| In the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP),
the term "part" is used as a short-hand way of describing any one
of the different, sometimes conflicting tendencies or personality
characteristics that most people have within them; e.g., a "part"
that likes to relax and have fun could be in conflict with the part that is
in charge of making sure the person works hard.
Some parts exist virtually unknown to the person whose life they considerably influence. Part of NLP therapy may involve guiding a person to become consciously aware of such parts. Other NLP techniques (or "modalities") involving parts would be aimed at resolving conflicts between parts, and/or allowing the full potential of "underachieving" parts to be achieved. |
